Hi Friends, there has been awhile since my last post on 1^st of January 2010. A lot of things have been happening to me since the New Year turned from 2009.

1. First, my house caught fire. The fire started from the main switch board inside my house. The fire started suddenly just like that. Fortunately, my family members noticed the fire and they immediately alerted my neighbors for help to put off the fire. Thanks to them for helping. The fire was not serious but it created some damages that made us inconvenience to stay there for few days. Since the main switch board was burnt, there is no electricity supply to my house and we have to stay in the nearby hotel. I need to get the electrician to change to a new main switch board and rewired some of the affected wiring, then only we got the power supply back and moved back in. However, the smoke from the fire made the whole house darken. The ceiling and some part of the wall were darken and dusty. No choice, we have to repaint the whole house including the up stair rooms. Now, everything back to normal and I am glad that everyone in my family was not hurt in the fire.
2. Second, after we recovered from the fire, I was sick for a few days. Suddenly got flu, body weak, cough and has been bedridden for few days.
3. Third, after I recovered from the virus, my car got problem. The gear box of my car was having problem that cannot made my car move at all even I shifted to “Drive” gear. Therefore, I have to spend few thousand ringgits to repair it.

After all these unfortunate incidents, I hope the rest of the days for this year will be better and better. Well, not only this year but every year at all.

Here, in this 2010 Tiger year, I wish everyone a happy and prosperous Chinese new year. May everyone be healthy, wealthy with happiness always.

So fast a year has passing by and now we are heading to another new year, 2010.

Plan what you will be doing in the new year and make sure you will achieve it and do not just write it down. Action is very important and once you have achieved it, reward yourselves with anything that you like so that it can motivate you more towards other things that you wanted to do.

Oh No !!!! Stitch has landed on our Earth !!!!

Who and What is Stitch?

Stitch is a blue color alien genetic creation and he is standing at around 3 feet tall. He looks like a koala or a french bulldog and he has a limited ability to change his physical appearance such as retracting a second set of arms, his antennae and the three spines on his back into his body. Nevertheless, he is an ALIEN from OUTER SPACE created for a genetic experiment with experiment number 626.

Now, he has landed on our planet but fortunately, he turn up to be a nice cute little alien that will not create chaos in our planet. I managed to took an adorable photo of him with my eldest son, Joey, my youngest son, Joe Dean and my niece, Ya Xin.

Recently, the planet Earth is in bad shape. In the past few weeks, the Asia Pacific and Japan area has experienced several devastating natural disasters. Typhoon Ketsana hit the Philippines and Vietnam, massive earthquakes shaken the Indonesia, Samoa, Tonga and American Samoa with the related tsunami affecting the surrounding area.

These disasters have caused hundreds of deaths, hundreds of thousands of injuries as well as massive property damage. Many have been severely affected by these disasters; my heartfelt thoughts are with the people and communities who have suffered through these unexpected tragic events.

Now is the time to response to the urgent needs of these affected people. Manpower is needed to help find the injured people, recover the bodies and rebuild the area. Food and drinking water are needed to ensure those survivals have enough food to eat and clean water to drink. Praying and chanting are needed to allow everyone has the spirits to motivate themselves and get back to their feet and move forward with their life.

For those who want to help, go ahead and make an effort to contribute your time and money to help these people. For those who wish to give directly to disaster relief efforts, there are some organizations that have issued urgent calls for donations and are providing relief for these events. They are as follow:

I remembered when I was young, about 13 years old; I have begun to have interest in public speaking. When I was in school at that time, I took part in the school level speech competition. I liked to stand in front of my school teachers and my fellow students and spoke on my topic during the competition. Unfortunately, I totally cannot recall what my speech title was and what the content of my speech was.

Why I took part in speech competition?

When I was a kid, I watched a lot of television programs. Until now, I still do. I listened to news programs and other programs related to speeches and standup speaking programs. I was amazed of the response with clapping and shouting given by the audiences to the speakers. And the speakers eventually…….looked like became a famous figures. Maybe that was what influenced me to stand up and speak in front of people. With that, I decided to take part in the speech competition.

However, I did not do well and I did not win any prize. Of course, I was not disappointed because that was my first time spoke in front of so many people and I was panic as well. It was not because I did not prepare or practice, maybe it was the first time I stand up in the stage there and this made me panic with red face, butterflies flying around inside my stomach, sweating, heart keep on increase pumping, voice tone becoming unstable and sometimes out of tone etc.

Whatever happened, I was actually proud of myself. I was proud of myself because I was able to take my first step to do things that I wanted to do. I wanted to stand up and speak up in front of audiences and I did it. My public speaking experiences started from there and until today, my profession is related to speaking in front of people. I am now a Trainer.

It is not easy to be a trainer. I have learned a lot from my others trainers and coaches to sharpen up my skills in training and public speaking. One community that I joined to allow me to improve further is the Toastmasters.

Toastmaster is not about toasting with champagne, beer and wine. It is where we can improve by presenting speeches and received feedback of what area need to be improved from the evaluators. I have completed my first 10 project speeches as required as a Toastmasters member with Competent Communicator rank and I am now continue to enhance myself further with doing Advanced Communication project speeches.

I have read a lot of books and listened to a lot of audio books. With new technology nowadays, there are eBooks available as well to download from the Internet and read further for any self improvement and self development.

Writing articles into my blog is just one of my hobby or past time work. In my own blog, I wrote about everything that I have encountered in my life. From watching football of English Premier League to public speaking in Toastmasters Club, these are some of the things that I have gone through in my life. That is the tagline of my blog.

1. But posting some articles in my blog is just one of the steps to be done. Most importantly is to get people to read my articles and also visit my website or my blog. And the next very most importantly, is to allow people to find my articles or my website or my blog whenever they do a search using Internet search engine such as Google, Yahoo and MSN.
2. When a person going to Google search engine and searched for some keywords such as “football”, “Public Speaking” etc., I hope that my website will always be in the first page of the searched results. But of course, that did not happened at all because there are millions of other people writing the same articles with the same keywords and the chances to be listed in the first page of searched results are very minimum. I could be in third or fourth page or maybe even in the last pages of millions of searched results. No one would want to go through all the lists page by page until he or she found the articles or my articles at the end of the lists. Most of them will likely go through the first or maybe second page of searched results only. So, it is difficult to get to the first page and hence, it is difficult to get people come to my blog to read my articles.
3. However, if you typed “Victor Wan” or “toastmasters club evaluation contest video” in the Google Search, you can still find me in the first page, or sometimes in the second list of the searched results. Well, at least some people can notice me if they typed in the correct keywords to search.
4. Then, I also need to learn how to make my posts or blog to be always listed in the first list of the Google searched result and I found an interesting eBook that could have help me at least try out the secret way to get listed in the first page. This eBook is called “Google Magic Formula”.

First of all, thank you to all those who took the effort to register for the contest and predict their Top Four EPL team as at 30th September 2009. However, sad to inform that I have only received 21 predictions from all over the world. Well, maybe this is just the beginning of the season or it could be quite difficult to predict the top four teams due to all teams are challenging enough to be in the top four. Nevertheless, I welcome all of you for any feedback to this contest and I will set up another contest soon.

As at 30th September 2009, the Top Four Teams in the EPL table are as follow:

1. Manchester United

2. Chelsea

3. Liverpool

4. Tottenham Hotspurs

It was almost similar to the original Top Four with only the exception of Tottenham took over their London rival, Arsenal. Well, are we still saying there are ORIGINAL top four teams? I doubt it.

With the 21 predictions that I have received, regret to say that there is NOT even one predicted correctly of the Top Four teams. Of course, with that, there is NO correct prediction of correct top four standing of the EPL table as at 30th September 2009.

Some of the entries left out Liverpool and some of the entries predicted with Manchester City in top four. Other predictions included Arsenal as well. Therefore, at the end, there is no one entry with the correct prediction. and Hence, regret to inform all of you that there is NO winner for this contest.

Nevertheless, I will set up another contest soon and please register for email alert at the right sidebar to get email notification of new contest soon.
