Sport News : Manchester United to Malaysia

The greatest football team in the world, Manchester United FC, just completed their tour to Malaysia and played two matches here. I did not attend the first match against the Malaysia team on Saturday 18 July 2009 due to my commitment to attend an event. However, when they announced they were to play another match due to their cancellation to Jakarta because of the hotel bombing incident, I was ready to go to the second match on Monday 20 July 2009 at the same venue, the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

1. This was my third time seeing them playing LIVE in front of my own eyes. The atmosphere inside the stadium was great. Everyone was enjoying their time.  However, while the first match was almost full house, the second match was filled up about half of the stadium only. Maybe, it could be due to Monday, a lot of fans still need to work. Here I was inside the stadium.

 2. My favorite player, Michael Owen was in the starting lineup. Here is the starting lineup for Manchester United team.

3. The match was played very fast between the two teams and I was able to capture Macheda’s goal on my own video camera. However, 2 minutes later, I was still excited about the goal and did not able to capture their second goal which was scored by my favorite player, Michael Owen.

4. In the second half, Rooney, Berbatov, Ferdinand, Nani, Anderson and Scholes were among the players came in for substitution. The match was still very energetic and both sides almost score their goals. However, at the end, the final score was still 2-0 won by Manchester United.

5. I enjoyed my time watching them played in Malaysia and looking forward to the new football season coming soon. May Manchester United continue to dominate the English Premier League and capture back the UEFA Champions League.

Good Luck to you, Manchester United.

Tribute to Michael Jackson

I was very sad when I heard the news of the death of Michael Jackson. Even though he had no relationship to me but his songs were related to all of us.

1. He had all those songs that gave meanings to all of us. Especially the song “Heal the World”. The world is dying and he wanted us all together to try our best to heal the world.

2. My second son, Julian also got to know this song when he was one of the perfomers in his kindergarten concert last year 2008. He dressed as one of the trees and urged all of us to save the trees to save to world. And he liked the song until now that he still like to listen to it.

3. My eldest son, Joey, got to know him from the song “Beat It”. Well, not that he wants to beat everyone but to beat away those bad things, bad experience surrounding us.

4. My youngest son, Joe Dean, well, he is still young and don’t know what is happening to him. But at least he heard and know a bit about Michael Jackson.

5. My wife had watched him before in front of her own eyes when he came to Malaysia for the only concert in his life. At least, she was able to see him in person.

6. As for me, I still have his “HiStory” CDs with me inside my car and I will still listen to his songs again and again and again………..

The King of Pop is already gone but for us, life goes on……….

Economy Crisis? I am wondering….

When I looked around the environment surrounding me, the places I have been, shopping centres, residential areas or even on the road, there is one thing I noticed that everyone could be fooling around each other, and that is the economy crisis.

1. Is there really an economy crisis? I am just wondering.

2. You see, when I looked around, I saw a lot of people still able to renovate their houses. Not just a minor renovation but a major renovation as well. Completely changing the structure and design of the houses. Are these people too rich and not border about the economy crisis that has been hitting everyone that talking about it?

3. When I was on the road, I saw many cars still moving around and the cars are not just small and ordinary cars but big, huge, expensive and new latest cars as well. From what I know, the new cars are not cheap and could be more than RM150,000 even though some still can afford for cars that are priced around RM100,000. So, for those driving those new expensive cars, are they really too rich that they can afford to buy a car that only bring you from one place to another and nothing much can be done?

4. When I was at the shopping centres, I still saw many people crowded everywhere inside doing shopping or maybe just window shopping. Maybe there are many people at the shopping centres due to no other places to go and still can afford to walk around and look around of merchandises and feel the cool air-con. Yes, just walk and look around like browsing and not buying at all which is window shopping. But with the big SALES season now in Malaysia, I guess many people will be spending again with lots of discount but for me, there is no discount at all. You still have to spend spend spend and seems that nobody is affected by the so-called “Economy Crisis”.

5. So, in the end, is there an economy crisis now? I am still wondering.

Thank you.

Sport News : Football : Michael Owen

This post is about one of my favourite sports, Football or Soccer.

Michael Owen is one of my favourite players. He was once very sharp in his skills and able to score fantastic goals. He is one of the best in my list.

1. Since Newcastle United was relegated, I foresee there is no point for Owen to remain there. To maintain his career and get back his opportunity to play for England, he should try his luck to go back to Premier League at least. And at least, there were some buyers interested on him, Hull City and Stoke City.

2. But suddenly, a breaking news came. Michael Owen is heading to Manchester United.

3. When I heard this news, I shouted “YES !!! YES !!!”. He is moving to Manchester United. He is going to play for Manchester United. Why? Because Manchester United is my favourite football club.

Michael Owen to Manchester United

4. There he is………after completed the medical checkup and immediately signed and sealed the contract. Isn’t he great in the new Manchester United home kit?

5. Now the problem is, will Alex Ferguson play him all the time or just put him on the bench just as a backup striker? Or will he be rotated to play in the first team? Let’s see what and how Alex Ferguson is going to do with him.

6. WOW !!! Since Manchester United is coming to Malaysia for the off season summer tour, make sure Owen is in the tour as well. Well, he should be. Shouldn’t he? It will be great to see him in action right in front of my own eyes.

7. To Michael Owen, welcome to Manchester United and to Malaysia.

Thank you for reading.

Sport News : Tennis : Wimbledon 2009

This post is about one of my favourite sports, Tennis.

Since the football season is taking a break now, we shift to other sports. Yes, now the Wimbledon Tennis Competition is playing at Wimbledon and reaching the end soon.

1. Again, the Ladies’ Singles will be another Williams sisters final, Venus against Serena which will be played on Saturday 4 July 2009.

2. During the semifinals matches, while Serena Williams took longer time to beat her opponent Elena Dementieva, which is the no. 4 seed in the competition, her sister Venus easily beats Dinara Safina with very embarasssing score of 6-1, 6-0.

3. Why do I say it is an embarassing score? The reason is that Dinara Safina is the no. 1 top seed in this competition and somemore before the semifinals match, she arrogantly said that she is the no. 1 in the world. I was so shock to the result and she was also shock that she was so easily beaten in just 51 minutes. I hope she has learned a lesson and concentrate more on playing the match instead of telling people in the whole world about being no. 1.

 4. However, I still believe one day she will win a major ladies’ singles title. She is still young and still has a long way to go. Just look at the Williams sisters. From their teenage year until now, they still keep on going strong and still winning championships. That’s their great consistency of playing.

5. Next will see who will be the finalists for the Men’s singles final. I am putting my bet on Roger Federer against Andy Murray. It will be a great final if they played against each other in this year final. Roger Federer will be going for a record 15 grand slam win while Andy Murray will try his best to be the first winner from Great Britain at Wimbledon for so many years trying.

If you are a tennis fan, please feel free to give comments here in this blog. If you are too bored to read this post, I apologies about that and I will try my best to post more interesting postings here in the future. All you need to do is just keep on coming back once in a while to my blog www.victor-wan.com.

Thank you.

I am also active in Toastmasters and I am a member of Money Mastery Kuala Lumpur Toastmasters Club. We meet every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at Amcorp Mall, Petaling Jaya, starts at 6.30pm. If you are interested to come to experience Toastmasters meeting, let me know here.

My favourite football team is Manchester United and they are coming to Malaysia to play against Malaysian Selection team on 18 July 2009 at Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur. Well, I watched them play before twice when they came here last time. Face to face with some players such as David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Steve Bruce, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane but very disappointed that Christiano Ronaldo will not be here since he left to Real Madrid already. But, now, my favourite is Wayne Rooney eventhough he is like a “Bad Boy” sometimes.

Besides doing training, I also play Forex Trading. I am still learning how to trade efficiently so that I can be able to earn some part time income as well. Well, that investment is quite risky but I just have to be careful dealing with the forex market.
